Many New Yorkers are familiar with the popular “Maze Runner” film series, which is currently filming “The Death Cure.” Production has been delayed, however, after the film’s star, actor Dylan O’Brian, was injured on the set. It was initially reported that the actor was struck by a car, but later reports stated that he fell off a set.

According to sources, it was finally revealed that O’Brien suffered a concussion, facial fracture, and lacerations after being hit by a motorcycle during filming. He was treated at the hospital for a fracture in his cheekbone and orbital socket. Although he is expected to fully recover, sources say he may miss up to six weeks while recovering.

Thankfully, O’Brien’s injury, although serious, will not leave any permanent damage. But, many other Americans are not as lucky. An injury that is expected to last at least a year or ultimately ends in one’s death is covered by the Social Security Administration’s Social Security Disability Insurance or Supplemental Security Income, depending on the victim’s situation.

The disability benefits may be used to financially help a victim cover various life expenses, but is not assumed to cover all of the victim’s medical costs. Workplace injuries are not uncommon, with over three million reported instances of non-fatal disabling injuries occurring in 2014 alone. If you have suffered a serious injury, which is keeping you out of work, you may want to see if you qualify for one of the Social Security Benefits programs.
