Social Security Administration emphasizes diversity

With the beginning of June meaning the start of Ramadan, the Muslim holiday honoring the first revelation of the Quran, the Social Security Administration is reminding all Americans of the importance of diversity and the Administration's role in making certain that all Americans are treated fairly and equally.

The Social Security Administration's website blog, "Social Security Matters" includes many topics, including the concerns of various religious and ethnic communities. The Social Security's online newsletter is also available, providing valuable information regarding programs and features of the administration. Among these features is the "My Social Security" account, which allows people to access certain features including obtaining a replacement card.

The "My Social Security" service has built-in fraud detection features to confirm your identity. The SSA may contact you in the event of potentially fraudulent activity. In order to gain access to this service and apply for a new card, you must create an account, have a valid state driver's license or state-issued identification card, and be at least 18 years of age with a domestic mailing address. The service is not available to request changes to your card, including name changes. You may need to visit a local Social Security office for such changes.

The Social Security Administration makes it a priority to help all Americans, regardless of their religion, race or sexual preference. Among their many programs are Social Security Disability Insurance and Supplemental Security Income, which provide financial assistance to those who suffer mental conditions, illnesses or injuries that prevent them from keeping gainful employment.
