How Disability is Determined

To determine whether someone is disabled under their laws, the Social Security Administration uses a five-step evaluation process. They look at whether you are currently working and/or making income in some way; whether your injuries or illnesses are severe and/or automatically disabling; and how your injuries or illnesses affect your ability to work. They then decide whether you could hypothetically return to your past jobs or if you could perform other, easier work.

The Social Security Administration's evaluation process is complicated and confusing. Additionally, if you do not know what Social Security is looking for, you may give them the wrong information or not give them enough information at all. At Terry Katz & Associates, we have handled thousands of claims just like yours and we know how to present your case to Social Security, because we can show them how your case meets their requirements for disability.
